A quick stop in Paris.

We all know that at least we need a week to travel around Paris. But if you have just three days like I had you must go to these places at least: Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Louvre Museum, The Pantheon, Moulin Rouge and take a boat down the Seine River.

Eiffel Tower:

Prepare yourself to spend 2 hours in the tower. Of course there is always a lot of tourist there.

You have two levels. The first one is in the middle of the tower as you can see and the second one in the top. Normally people go just to the first level but trust me, is worth it go to the top as well. Of course you have to pay for this. 11 Euros for the second floor and 17 Euros to the top.

In the second floor you have some shops to but souvenirs and also some restaurants. It there any better than having lunch in the Eiffel Tower with an amazing view to Paris? Do it!

In the top of the tower you have a panoramic view which is incredible to take pictures of the whole city.

Before you leave the place you must go to take the picture with the Eiffel Tower behind you. There is a park there where people usually take photos. Also you have touring bus for the city and souvenirs places in the same park.

Notre Dame:

It is one of the most ancient and historic buildings with a Gothic style. Dedicated to Mary mother, it sat on the small island of the Cité, surrounded by the waters of the Seine. It is one of the most popular monuments of the French capital.

You have the cathedral, the tower and the crypt, but this last one don’t the deserve to go there cause you will found just ruins. You must go to the tower.  Where you can find the gargoles and see the city from the top. It only cost 8,5 Euros. For sure you will get familiar with some of the scenes in the movie “The Hunchback of Notre Dame “.

Louvre Museum:

There are a lot of museums in Paris. And of course you won’t get on time if you want to go to all of them. So you need to go to the most important one. And that is the Louvre.

We all know Louvre because of “The Da Vinci Code” movie and the Monalisa. But let me tell you something, this is a small thing in the place. Because you can’t imagine how many piece of art are in this museum. So much history. From the ancient Egypt to Napoleon.  I don’t know much about history but I know that you must go to this place.

Outside you have the big pyramid and some shop. You can stop at the park and eat some macarons. It’s the perfect postal to end a day.

and fall in love with Paris.

Back to Cairo to fall in love.

After my touring in a Cruise from Luxor to Aswan I went back to Cairo for one night to say goodbye. But I didn’t know that also was to fall in love.

I took a flight from Aswan to Cairo and stayed in a hotel in Giza. I was really tired after my entire trip in Egypt. I didn’t sleep well for two weeks with all the travel and the tour so I really needed relax.

A guy which I met in Luxor text me and asked me to go to have dinner. So I said yes. First of all because It was my last night in Cairo and also because I really liked this guy. I didn’t know him before. Was just a guy who was on my facebook .We never spoken. But like I told you before, we made a huge connection when we met in Karnak temple.

We did fell in love at first sight. And it was all so special. I wasn’t thinking about meeting someone in my trip.

Can you imagine going to your favorite country in the whole world, meet that magical places that you dream about it. And also have a huge connection with someone. Yeah sometimes just happen. I was lucky.

But it was complicated. Because I had someone else waiting for me in my country. But I let this happen. I didn’t think much.

We went to have dinner to a restaurant with just the view of the Nile River. It was so romantic. Yeah Egyptians have something. They have a lot.

The hotel was really strict about having a woman with man alone. So we couldn’t stay much time there.

I had one entire day to enjoy Egypt before my flight to Paris. So we decided to go to the pyramids. I was still looking for the perfect picture.

So we went there but it was late. The place closes at 4 pm. So he made an arrangement with people who have horses to go around the desert and see the pyramids from the other side. Another romantic thing from him. And we went there. From the other side of the place, where you can see all the pyramids. It looks like a postal.

The sunset, the pyramids and him.

And after the sunset we went to the Nile. We just stay there watching each other for hours. I didn’t want to leave. I just wanted to stop that moment forever.

We said goodbye at the airport. But I knew that this was not going to be the last time we saw each other.

I don’t usually write about this kind of personal things. But this came with my trip and it was an important part of it. So I decided this had to be in my blog.

Nile Cruise from Luxor to Aswan.

After all my trip in Egypt sharing with my friends, it was time for me to be alone and enjoy a Nile Cruise from Luxor to Aswan. 3 nights with just a view to the Nile River. Yeah, is something amazing. You must do this cruise if you are planning on going to this place.

The cruise was a five stars. Sealing during three days, visiting the most important temples in Egypt and ending in the beautiful Aswan.

Edfu

First stop was in the city of Edfu. We stopped the boat to visit the temple of Horus. One of the best preserved temples in Egypt and the second bigger after Karnak. That day was really hot and of course in the south of this country is even worse. This temple has very high walls where you can see the hieroglyphs so clearly. Horus all over the place. Inscriptions on its walls provide important information about language, mythology and religion during the Greco-Roman world in ancient Egypt. If you read my blog before then you know that I love Egyptology, so being in such a mythical place as this was another dream come true.

Kom Ombo

The second stop was in Kom Ombo. The construction is unique due to its double design, which means that there were accesses, courtyards, halls, chapels and duplicate sanctuaries for two gods: Sobek and Haroeris. And with a great view to the Nile. I would love to understand any of the hieroglyphs on its wall. Cause there were many of them. Many parts of the temple have been destroyed by the action of the Nile, earthquakes, and even used their stones for other later constructions. I enjoy a beautiful sunset overlooking the temple and the Nile River.

Abu Simbel

And this was the day that I was expecting my whole life. No pyramids. No Nile River. Just wanted to see those enormous statues in Abu Simbel temples. I can’t even describe with words what you feel inside and outside this place. There is so much history. There is also a special energy around.

There are two temple. The temples were excavated in the rock during the reign of the pharaoh Ramesses II, as a monument dedicated to this pharaoh and his wife Nefertari, to commemorate his supposed victory in the battle of Kadesh and to show his power to the Nubians.

The complex was relocated on an artificial hill, built on nearby land located above the level of the Lake Nasser. The transfer of the temples was necessary to avoid that they were submerged, after the construction of the dam of Aswan. Was also declared Patrimony of the Humanity by Unesco. The complex consists of two temples. The greatest of them is dedicated to Ra, Ptah and Amon, the three state deities of Ancient Egypt; and houses four colossal statues of Ramses II carved into the rock of the facade. The minor temple is dedicated to Nefertari, the favorite wife of Ramses. The facade of the temple is 33 meters high. So now you can imagine how big this is. All the statues represent Rameses II, seated in a throne. Each one is about twenty meters high. And I will tell you something amazing about this temple. The temple was built with such orientation that on 21 October and 21 February the sun’s rays penetrate to the sanctuary, located at the bottom of the temple, and illuminate three of the four sedentary statues, except for the statue of the god Ptah, the god related to the underworld, who always remained in gloom. So you should go to this place during this dates if you want to see something incredible.

I stayed there for an hour admiring these huge temples. I still cannot believe how lucky I was to be there.

Philae Temple

Philae is the name of an Island in the Nile River near Aswan. This temple is dedicated to the Goddess Isis, the wife of Osiris and mother of Horus. I think you already know about the history of this family. The temple at Philae was nearly lost under water when the high Aswan dam was built in. Fortunately the temple was rescued by a joint operation between the Egyptian government and UNESCO.

It was time of ending my trip around Egypt and coming back for just one day to Cairo. Where something special and not expected was about to succeed me.

Beach day in the Red Sea: Hurghada

So we had this day off. So I decided that we could spent the day in the beach. You can’t go to Egypt and not going to the Red Sea. In this case we choose Hurghada. Its a beautiful place with a lot of resorts in the east coast. Its 4 hours from Luxor. And you have on the way beautiful landscapes with mountains and desert.

We spent a whole day in the beach. Blue water with little fishes. Such a perfect way to spent an amazing day with your friends. But in Hurghada you must go to dive. Is something you can’t forget, even if you are a little scare, trust me, it’s worth it. So we stay in a resort all inclusive till afternoon. We had to go back to Luxor, so this was just for the day. To go to this places you need a permission from the government, and you only can stay there before afternoon, if you are going just for the day.

So we went to dive. I was excited but at the same time worried because this was my first time diving. We went to an abandoned boat. Like an hour from the seashore. But it was amazing. A lot of fishes, from different colors. So beautiful. I don’t have much say. It was a day to get relax. The next day each of my friends split up for different places. Some went to Cairo, some others to Dubai, but me…it was time for my Nile Cruise trip.

A place called Thebes: Luxor second part.

My third day in Luxor was amazing. We went to look around the city. First: Luxor Temple. Is one of the best temples maintained in terms of its structure in Luxor. There are a lot of columns, big statues of Ramses II and a hall of sphinxes. I took so many good pictures in there. In Egypt it’s amazing how you can go to all these important and smashing places with just a few dollars. The ticket only coasted 7 USD. Like I said, all this great temples from so many years ago just for a few Egyptian Pounds.

After Luxor´s temple we went to see the places where you can buy some stuff, like little statues. One of the things that make me think much about this place was that people from there speaks so many languages. You can find little kids speaking Arabic, English, and French. I remember one the kids asking for food. I went to a McDonalds that was right there and I bought food for him. He was so grateful and happy. He kept saying: Thank you Mama! I think I won’t never forget this little child.

It was afternoon and we were in a hurry to go to the party in the Karnak temple. And this is so funny because I went to a party in Karnak but I couldn’t actually go inside Karnak. Not much sense for me. Another one for my bucket list.

The venue was awesome.  A huge stage and background the temple. Like I told you in other entries, International Djs were playing that night. People from all over the globe. I could meet friends that I had on facebook since a long time ago. This was something amazing. One guy in particular. I think I had him on facebook from like 2 years ago, but we never spoke before that night. He went to me to say Hi and in that moment was like magical. We kept watching each other for like 3 minutes. Things that only happen once in your life I think. Yeah, in that moment I fell completely for him.

Luxor was not just about temples, good people and beautiful places. Was also about love. For me

A place called Thebes: Luxor first part.

The days after we didn’t do anything different. But now that I’m thinking I could do so many things in Cairo. Like going to Memphis and see that big statue from Ramses II, or going to a Mosque, another things for my bucket list. We spend the days in my hotel, in the pool. With the nicest view to the Pyramids. We went to a night club. But most of all we were waiting for people from some other countries. Maybe I didn’t say this before, but the idea of going to Egypt, was not just because I wanted since forever, was because a big festival of electronic music with my favorites Djs in Luxor, in the Karnak temple. So people from all over the globe were coming to meet with us there.

That night with one of my friends, we were leaving Cairo on the way to Luxor, on a road trip. You can go on airplane, is just one hour from there, but trust me the landscapes you can see on the way are so beautiful. Imagine the desert, little mountains, and the sunrise. So we spend like eight hours traveling, most of this time I slept. Of course after five days in Egypt I only slept two hours, like I told you before, the city that never sleeps.

And then I was there, in Luxor, in a place before known as Thebes, the place where all the things happened like 2000 years B C. Can you imagine being in a place like that? History all over there. The Nile, the Temples, but that day I just wanted to sleep. So I spent most of my Wednesday in my 5 stars hotel in a little island sleeping. At the pool. And let me tell you that in Luxor the heat is so much worse. So I was waiting for my friends to come that night. The party was on Thursday and Friday and we also wanted to go to some other places. So we were tight.

We had plans to go to some temples and most amazing going to a hot air balloon. So early in the morning we went to a ride in the balloon all over Luxor and the Valley of the Kings. It was so amazing. There you can see the mountains, and the sunrise over The Nile. I have no words to describe that moment. You must go.

After that we went to the Valley of the Kings and queens. The heat was so hard. But is a place you must go if you are in Egypt. We went to a three different tombs: Ramses IV, Merem Ptah (son of Ramses II) and Ramses IX. Usually you can’t choose which tomb you want to see because it depends on the day, if some of them are open or not. We had our guide touring Ahmed (by the way he is awesome if you need a guide just ask me for him). He explained us that the longer the entrance to the sarcophagus was because the Pharaoh had lived a lot of years. So we went to a Merem Ptah tomb that it take us like 30 minutes going down. I was so tired. The heat was awful. But I was in a tomb of a Pharaoh, so I didn’t care much if I was tired. Been there was amazing. You can see hieroglyphs from a thousand years ago still in a good shape. That’s so awesome, because all of this happened like a lot of years ago, and the places are still well maintained. The mystery of the ancient Egyptians.

You are not allow to take pictures inside the tombs. But everything is still in my mind like it were happen yesterday. A thing like that you can’t forget easily.

After that we went to the Queen Hatshepsut temple. It’s a very important one because she was an important queen. The place is big and is in the mountain. The heat was like 53 Celsius. So you can imagine how that was. You can see pictures about this amazing place in my IG account like the rest of the places.

That night we had a Nile pool party in the Hilton hotel with our friends and important Djs. It was a really good night, but we were really tired and a little sick because of the heat of that day.

After the party we went directly to get some rest. The day after we went to the Luxor Temple and we had the big party in Karnak temple.

Wait for the second part in Luxor.

Egypt in three days…

First day in Cairo: Egyptian Museum and Faluka time with Shisha.

My first days in Cairo, I still can’t believe that I was there, were just to walk around the City. This first day was at the Egyptian Museum of Cairo. It’s a good way to start the trip. A little of a history. The museum is awesome. You have so much to see around that sometimes it was unbelievable to known that I was there, with so many memories. All the art, statues, mummies, the golden mask of Tutankhamon. Yeah I was there! The ticket for the Museum is not expensive at all. 10 USD considering all the history you have right in front of you. Prepare yourself to walk a lot, because you have a lot of places where to go inside. You can do it on your own or you have also guide touring in different languages. That’s a thing that impressedme about Egypt. People speaks so many languages, even the little kids. Well done Egypt.

I had my own guide, was a friend I had there, and I mean had, cause the guy got crazy about me. But I will talk about him later. Maybe.

I went all over the museum, but I couldn’t go to the mummy room. I don’t remember why, but definitely the first thing I would do next time I was there, would be to go straight to that room.

The visit to the museum, and if you do it all good, could take like 4 hours, at least for me. So prepare to feel like you are traveling in time. Cause trust me there is no other museum so special than this one.

After visited the museum, we went with some friends to eat some “Shawarma”and listen Egyptian music inside a Falouka in the Nile. Yeah I think that, right now, you are imagining the perfect postal. And it was. Falouka is like a little boat as you can see on the pictures. You can take one a go around the Nile.Oh the Nile. I have no words to describe that river. I saw once in a movie that someone said: when you drink the water of the Nile it means you will be back. I didn’t drink the water, of course, but I still feel the water in my hands.

I was really tired. My jet lag was so big and I just wanted to sleep after that perfect day I had. But I will tell you something about Egypt. It seems like people don’t sleep in that country. I mean. I stayed there for two weeks and I only slept eight hours. It’s true when people said about Cairo, but meaning about all Egypt: The city that never sleeps. And you won’t sleep either. Trust me.

Like I was saying, my friends didn’t let me go to sleep so we went to a mall, a really big one, called “Mall of Arabia” to have some drinks and finally smoke “Shisha”. I was waiting for that moment, becauseto smoke Shisha is so Arabic, and you know how much I love all Arabic stuff.

That was my first day In Cairo. A perfect day to start my two weeks in that perfect country.

I had to get some rest because tomorrow we were going to spend the day in Alexandria.

A sunny day in Alexandria:

My friend pick me up at my hotel to spend the day in Alexandria. You have lot of thing that you can do in Alex but I didn’t care going anywhere there except stay in some place and look at the sea. Just that. That blue sea.

Alexandria It’s like 3 hours from Cairo. I remember a lot of little girls in the streets because I think it was the last day of school. So there was much people on the streets. We stop in a restaurant, in the street, to eat a typical Egyptian breakfast.

After that, as you can see on the pictures we went around and look at tyhe sea. It was so blue. I was in Alexandria! I still remember sending a voice note to my mom: “Mom finally I’m in Alex! After so many years dreaming about this place, finally I’m here”.

If you are in Alexandria definitely you need to go to the “Citadel of Qaitbay”. It’s a castle. Like a defensive fortress considered one of the most important in the Mediterranean Sea. And it’s pretty too. You have like “windows” where you can see the whole sea and the city. It’s an awesome place.  I went to Europe, and there you have a lot of castles but I didn’t see a castle like that. You must go there if you are planning on going to Egypt.

After the Citadel of Qaitbay, right next to, we went to a museum of mummified fish. I would just say that was a weird place and really cheap. Yeah I didn’t like it.

We walked a lot. That’s the only thing that mattered for me in that moment. Walk and look at the sea. We were really tired. And it was so hot that day.

It was like 4 pm and we were having lunch at same place in the downtown. I ate pasta. Yeah, pasta in Egypt. I have so many problems with food, the only thing I ate there was just pizza and pasta. Damn bell right?

It was like 6 pm and it was almost night. We went to some place there in the beach where literally you can seat at the sand and drink tea and smoke shisha. Was the best part of the day. The weather was perfect and I was sitting in a table in the beach drinking Egyptian tea, listening Egyptian music and smoking shisha. Could that be the perfect way to end the day? I know, I miss going to many places there. Like the famous library. But I didn’t have enough time. Too many things for just one day. Another place I would go next time.

I can define Alexandria like the perfect place to live in. I should move there.

A view from the Pyramids and Cairo Tower:

This was the most awesome day since I came to Egypt. This was the day when we were reunited with my friends from Argentina to go to see the Pyramids. I waited for 3 days in a hotel in front of the Pyramid so you can imagine that I was really excited on going there. We were a lot of people. Some friends from Egypt and some others from my country.

We wake up very early in the morning. It’s important cause if you go late you may have a chance to not go in. And there are always so many people around. The price is not expensive as you can imagine. It only coast 10 USD for foreign people and if you have the chance to go before 11 or 12, I don’t remember well, you can pay an extra and go inside the Great Pyramid. I went three times but it was always late. Another place on my bucket list.

We were inside. It was unbelievable. Three giants Pyramids there (actually there are 114 Pyramids in Egypt). My were dreams in front of me. All the things, that one day, since I was a little girl, I have wanted was right in front of my eyes. You can feel the energy. I swear that’s where you can feel that thing magic I told you once about Egypt. It’s all in that place.

I want to tell you that while I’m writing this blog all the memories came to me and I’m in tears. I still can’t believe that I went to Egypt. It’s Egypt you know. All my dreams to make come true were there. Always.

We took some pictures with the Pyramids behind us. It was really hot that day but it were a lot of things I wanted to do there. First of all and most important: ride a camel. We went with some guy who didn’t allow us to do all the things that a tourist would love to do there. I know, he is Egyptian, but come on! Everybody wants pictures in a camel with the Pyramids behind! Or pictures kissing the sphinx. But he didn’t want to do that so day I couldn’t take the pictures I always wanted. I will talk about this later.

For now I will continue telling you how awesome were been there. There are some guys, the owners of the camels, who let you take pictures and ride the camel in exchange for money, of course. Egypt is all about tourism so you need to help them with this. It was too hot and I started to feel like a little sick because of the heat. I went three times to the Pyramids and always, in the same place, I started to feel sick. That was a weird thing. Like it was too much energy around. I swear. You feel like a huge energy in that place. Is not a lie when people say that a Pyramid gives you energy. It’s true. So can you imagine how much energy can give you three giants Pyramids in front of you?

It was a little late and we left the place because we were tired and wanted to eat something. You have a Pizza Hut right in front of the place. In the middle of the desert (people still thinks that Cairo or Giza is just a desert with Pyramids and not a City). It is not. We went there and spend some time drinking a lot of water. Like I said, it was a hot day. I posted a picture with my friends. Some of them are not friends anymore but this is a good one so I wanted to show you how is the place inside.

We went to our hotels to get some rest because that night the idea was going to The Cairo Tower. It’s a place really tall where you can see the whole city. Go at night. I swear you wouldn’t believe how beautiful is.

I remember some native asking for a selfies with me. I felt like famous there haha. But yeah that was true. I guess they were interest about the way we wear our clothes or we spoke. It was a funny moment.

We ate some hamburgers (yeah, still not Egyptian food) at the restaurant in the top of the tower and then we spent some time at my hotel to drink sodas. Was a really good day. We just wanted to take our phones and see all the pictures we took. One of our friends who had gone with us is a photographer so you can imagine how many good pictures he took. Was an awesome day.

It was time to get some rest.
